Spicy Jalapeño Poppers

Ingredients
  

  • 12 fresh jalapeño peppers
  • 8 ounces cream cheese softened
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 8 slices bacon cooked and crumbled
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Toothpicks for securing

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil.
  • Cut the jalapeño peppers in half lengthwise and remove the seeds and membranes using a spoon. Wear gloves to protect your hands from the spicy oils.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, crumbled bacon, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
  • Using a spoon or your fingers, fill each jalapeño half with the cream cheese mixture, pressing down gently to compact the filling.
  • Place the filled jalapeños on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the jalapeños are tender and the filling is golden and bubbly.
  • Remove the jalapeño poppers from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes before serving.
  • If desired, garnish with chopped fresh cilantro or green onions before serving.
  • Serve the jalapeño poppers warm as a delicious appetizer or snack.

Notes

For a milder version, you can remove the seeds and membranes from the jalapeños or substitute with mini sweet peppers.
Customize your Jalapeño Poppers by adding ingredients such as diced jalapeños, shredded chicken, or cooked ground sausage to the filling.
To make ahead, assemble the poppers and store them in the refrigerator until ready to bake.
